Description
Terrace wall and property boundary, dividing the Nag s Head plot from the Gibbon s Mansion plot (mon.XX). Measured during UAD field visit and found to mark a maximum difference in ground level of 5.5m (down to east) at the north end of the properties <1>
The wall itself is brick built. Its relationship with the former Nag s Head hall gives this wall line a terminus ante quem of the 15th century, and there is no doubt that it represents a medieval property division. Like its neighbours (62387, 60150), its irregular course probably derives from its accommodation of the natural contours to the orientation of Wyle Cop and the requirements of the terracing process within the plot series, the chronology of which is largely unknown <?>
