SOU 788 Trench 13 (watching brief in 1996 and 1997):
[2]: Trench 13 was located immediately north of the Royal Standard Public House. The western face of a north-south aligned, mortared limestone wall was exposed, immediately below the pavement, across the arched entrance through the town wall to the SCC Mason's Yard. It is likely to be part of the town wall footings; the Mason's Yard entrance is shown on 19th century maps, but its date of insertion is unknown.
