    Full description

The Turk's Head Inn is named on the later 19th century 1:500 Ordnance Survey map of Lichfield. The inn was located on the southern side of the junction of what was Lower Sandford Street, Queen Street and Sandford Street. <1>

The Turks Head Inn is identified on Snape's map of 1781. Archaeological excavations in 2002 to the east of the site of the Turks Head Inn (as depicted on historic mapping) identified a south-east facing section of wall. This was incorrectly identified this as 'almost certainly' being associated with the inn, however comparison with the 1:500 town plan indicates that it is more likely to another building fronting on to Sandford Street (see PRN 50367). (SB, 12-Au-2015) <2>

It appears to have been demolished in the later 20th century to create space for 'Swan Road'. (SB, 12-Aug-2015) <3>
