A listed hotel which was originally a coaching inn. The building is of probable late 15th to early 16th century date and is of timber-framed construction with brick infilling. It also has later, 18th century red brick wings.

Full description

Three sherds of pottery dating to the mid 17th-18th century found in a pit identified to the rear of the hotel during the investigation of a former planter bed intended to be used for car parking. A possible post-medieval brick floor was also identified to the west during the excavation of a new service trench. (JM, 26-Sept-2003) <1>

The Dog and Prtridge Inn was originally built in the 15th century. The present public house incorporates a three-storied timber-framed building with close vertical upridgts and the remains of some cable mounlding n the third storey timbers. Additions to the north and south are in brick. (SB, 14-Feb-2014) <2>
