<1> Medieval manor site, present hall built 19th/20th century but medieval gateway and Tudor fireplace etc remain. (Pevsner mentions 12th century arch) References: South Yorkshire Vol.2 1831 p.109-114 (Hunter), O.S. Cards, Buildings W.R Yorks 1974 p.82 (Pevsner), O.S. Card (map in SE 30 SW file)
<2> A detailed appraisal of the archaeological importance and historic interest of two proposed development areas at New Hall Farm was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group between March 2004 and January 2005. [Further Information].
<3> Documentary evidence indicates extant from at least reign of King John (1199-1216). A 'fortified courtyard' constructed by the Bosvile family after 1435. There is documentary evidence for a deer park in the immediate area at this time, though possibly of earlier date. Deer park enclosed from 1570, possibly at around the time New Hall Farm [PIN 01441/01]was constructed immediately to south. Current buildings on hall site largely 19th/20th century.
