Full Description
<1> A pit discovered 210 yards west of the Northfield Road stream, on the south side of the Bath Road; the largest pit yet seen in the Thatcham Newtown area, 16' across and not bottomed by excavator W E Harris, but at least 8' deep.
The objects recovered includied large number of flints and other building stones, fragments of brick/ tile, part of a millstone, an iron meat chopper, blade and shears, a bronze spoon bowl, many fragments of pottery and one bronze coin.
