Full Description

<1> & <2> Brick built weigh house constructed c. 1796 - 1815. Narrow rectangular building c.26.5m long, with a crushed chalk floor lying on layers of rubble and slate. Internal features included a possible rail and internal crane. Extension with a crushed chalk floor added to the rear between c. 1849 - 1878. The weigh house was demolished c. 1878 - 1896.

The outline of a building is shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map <3> as well as being marked schematically on an 1815 deed <4> and named 'Weighing House' in a plan of 1817 <5>.
