Plumtree Cottage
C.16 or C.17. Timber framed cottage, brick nogging. (Square panels, about 11 across.) One eyebrow dormer to right. Thatch roof. Old stack in centre, part plain and part with oversailing upper courses.
Tiled roof, three gabled dormers. Modern extension to L.H. Interior altered, but retains some original timbers.
History Traditionally associated with Cromwell's encampment before the Battle of Newbury.

Full Description
Plum Tree Cottage is a Grade II listed timber framed building of 16th or 17th century date. There is a tradition associating it with Cromwell's encampment before the Second Battle of Newbury <1><2>.
A building file on the cottage is held in the Historic England archive <3> including a photograph taken in 1974 of a detail of the timber framing.
The cottage lies 85m to the east of North Heath Farmhouse and is likely to have been associated with it, possibly as further accommodation for agricultural workers.
