Full Description

The swing bridge at West Mills in Newbury is marked on historic Ordnance Survey mapping from the early 20th century <2>. It was recorded for the National Record of Industrial Monuments by J Kenneth Major in 1973 <3> when it was described as a typical bridge of 1810 by John Rennie, cantilevered with chain supports, with a large bearing race of 4 inch balls.
