Full Description
The Silchester Iron Age Environs mapping project <1> recorded an area of medieval or post medieval ridge and furrow visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs <2> within Wokefield Park. The ridge and furrow is visible over an area measuring 170 m by 76 m, with ridges oriented south-west, north-east. A post medieval trackway (NRHE 1601640) appears to cut through the ridge and furrow and is presumably later in date.
The area was redeveloped as a golf course at the end of the 20th century <3>, and no cropmark can be seen in later aerial images <4>.
