UNACCOMPANIED INHUMATION, IN FOUNDATION TRENCH. BURIAL ON BACK, ALIGNED E-W. 1.45M BELOW TOPSOIL? SITE INSPECTED BY S BROWN 23/2/87. BURIAL POSSIBLY CIVIL WAR DATE. BONES TAKEN TO NEWBURY MUSEUM FOR EXAMINATION, THEN WERE PRESUMABLY RE-INTERRED
It is assumed that these human remains might relate to the Second Battle of Newbury, 1644, although there doesn't appear to have been any dating evidence.
