WINDING BAY (FOR TURNING ROUND BARGES) APPARENT ON MAP AND AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS AT HUNGERFORD
This stretch of the canal was completed by October 1798. The winding bay or winding hole is visible on the First Edition OS map of 1879-85 <1> onwards and on aerial photographs such as those taken in 2010 <2>.
