Monument Types

  • MOUND (BRONZE AGE - 2350 BC to 801 BC)

Full description

"Tumuli". As far as I know have never been excavated. All seem unnatural features in the local landscape. [1]

2 small mounds, 1 being a lot smaller than the other. It looks like they were probably just 1 as the area between is raised and very uneven, as if it had been dug over. Mound c. 20' high at its highest point. Field to north a lot higher than field to south. South-west end of mound revetted by low wall of cut sandstone blocks which are not mortared together, both look artificial. [2]

Letter to Mrs Alice Parker concerning tumuli at Hoarstone Farm, from a Mr. H. Ronald Ashford, 8/4/1940. [3]

Letter from a Ms. H. A. White in response to a Mr. I. Walker reporting archaeological sites within the Bewdley area, the letter refers to these areas being assessed by an unnamed Archaeologist, agrees with source 2, also mentions WSM12015 and WSM03994. [4]
