Full description
The western end of the southern leg of the precinct boundary wall.
This had been demolished by the time of the 18th-century map sequence (1741 onwards) and ground to the south rented, later acquired, by the Dean & Chapter. This stretch of the precinct boundary probably post-dated the re-acquisition of the castle site by the Cathedral Priory in 1217 (see WCM 96350). Investigation in the cellar of no.9 College Green (WCM 96363) found some stonework but no sign of the precinct wall, whose line lies under the building's south elevation. {1}
