| Summary: | A large cairn on butterdon hill. Os 6" cxix se. Badly mutilated, especially around the perimeter. Vis=24/3/1950 (os) diameter 24m, height 2m. Vis=23/6/1973 (grinsell) mutilated cairn. Diameter 25m, height 2.5m. Vis=large cairn visible on nmr 1976 ap (rchm app 1985). Vis=estimated -/-/1990 (ancient monuments). Cairn consisting of a mound of stone, earth and turf base, possibly with a berm and ditch. Diameter 25m, height approx 2.5m (am). Vis='heap of stones', 'tumulus' marked on os 6" (1906) map (os). |
