Three fields along the western side of Wards Lane, Higer Wich Field, Middle Wich Field and Lower Wich Field. This may indicate small scale brine extraction.

Wich is the Saxon name for a place of salt production or industrial activity, hence the many salt producing towns that end in "wich". E.g. Nortwich, Nantwich and Middlewich
