Full Description

The 2nd ed. 25" OS map of c. 1900 shows a Chapel on Main Street, Newton Green. (1)

The Primitive Methodists have a chapel [in Newton Green], which was built in 1880 at a cost of £350. It was enlarged in 1889 at a further outlay of £188. (2)

A large Primitive Methodist chapel was built across the road by the 3rd edition OS map, but the earlier chapel still appears to be in use. (3)

By the 4th edition OS map, this building is labelled as a Hall. (4)

Examination of modern maps shows that the building is still extant although its current use is unclear [2009]. (5)

Looking at Google Maps Street View, the building is still extant, although the windows have been boarded up and it appears derelict [2011]. (6)
