Des=greeves, t. / Vis=1/2/1998 (greeves) SX 6382 7079 substantial round barrow/cairn on wnw 'flank' of ter hill. (1/2/1998)/worksheet in pf. The cairn/barrow is at least 15m in diam but may be as much as 25m as it is possible that a berm with an outer ring bank extends beyond the central mound. The maximum height of the cairn is not more than 1m above the present ground surface. The site is masked by molinia and presumably a certain depth of peat. A rectangular hollow has been dug into the centre of the mound and looks relatively 'fresh' (ie within the last 100 years or so!). The hollow is orientated approximately ne/sw and measures approx 1.5m x 1m with a max depth of about 0.5m. A displaced stone lies on the top of the mound on the ne side of the hollow (worksheet).
