Summary

There are two spigot mortar pedestals in the grass near the NW wall of Coalhouse Fort.

Full description

There are two spigot mortar pedestals standing in the grass a few yards from the NW wall of Coalhouse Fort. However, there are indications that they may have been transported and placed here after WWII from another site. The easternmost is clearly free-standing and neither appears to have stood in its own purpose-made pit. They are not apparent in aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1960 but do clearly show from 1970 onwards. <1> <2> <3> Two photos of site. <4> photo ref <5>
