Full description

The date stone is 1855. It is an H-shaped red brick building of English bond, with an extension in Stretcher bond. The south is raised to two stories, the rest is single storey. It has heavy door surrounds, dismantled sash windows throughout. It is considered to be of regional importance. {1}
The police station was erected in 1849 before the county force was established. The station consisted of a court, lock-up and a superintendent constables' house. {2}
