Five inhumations burials were exposed during the excavation of foundation trenches for buildings south of Chapel Lane. The graves were inter-cutting, suggesting a relatively prolonged period of burial practice within what appeared to be an extremely confined area. It is suggested that the grave group may have been defined by some form of permanent marker, which has now been lost. Grave 1 contained a seventh century narrow necked beaker and a bronze brooch. Grave 2 contained an iron nail and knife. Grave 3 had contained a possible coffin and a nail which may be residual. Grave 4 contained residual RB pottery. {1}{2}
