Six flints and and an early Bronze Age potsherd were found during the Fenland Project, Lincolnshire Survey (Site Ref. BOU28). {1}
Archaeological excavations carried out in August 2007, in advance of works to install a watermain across land to the southeast of Dyke, resulted in the recovery of 63 pieces of struck or worked flint of late Mesolithic to early Bronze Age date. The majority of the assemblage was either unstratified or occurred residually in later, mostly Romano-British, contexts. However, three flints were associated with pre-Roman alluvial deposits: a serrated flint blade with late Mesolithic/early Neolithic characteristics, a flint flake of late Neolithic/early Bronze Age character, and an early Neolithic flint core. A group of 13 pieces of flints occurred in the fill of a sub-oval pit, which also produced a potsherd of probable or possible Roman date. Datable examples in the group were generally attributable to the early Neolithic (7 pieces), although a late Neolithic to early Bronze Age piece was present in the assemblage. {2}{3}
