A spring known as the conduit is thought to have supplied water to Reading Abbey.

Description
A spring known as the conduit lies on the west side of Highgrove Street, approximately 50ft north of Christchurch Road. The site has a long tradition, documentary and oral of supplying water to Reading Abbey. This is strengthened by records of discoveries of lead pipes near the Kennet and Avon Canal leading in this direction <1>.
