Description
It is said that in the process [of demolishing the W wings of Burford House, SA 10753] remains of the former castle of the Cornwalls were found <1>
A field visit by RCHME recorded stone foundations 2m to 6m high of part of a Medieval manor house, extending west 7.5m from Burford Manor House and 19m wide. Foundations revealed 1954 when Victorian west wing of Burford House demolished. Identified as manor house of Cornwall family, 14th century to 1721. Possibly a fortified manor house, not a castle <2>
