Full description

Radford's site E was excavated in the 1930s but no coherent plan could be recovered. A few broken masonary fragments were recovered which must have belonged to those found elswhere on the island. One wall on the east side was preserved (h1, b8). It is unclear whether this site belongs to the early medieval activity on the island, or whether the remains represent part of the settlement of the builders of the castle (b16, b20). The monument was included in the Schedule on 9/10/1981 and the scheduling updated on 18/11/1996. A number of low earthworks are visible on aerial photographs (p5, p6), lying between Site D (23165.44) and the garden (23165.52). They were plotted during the Cornwall NMP.
