Full description

A well is shown on Sir G Wilkinson's plan of Carn Brea in 1860 (b1). It is described by Tangye (b4) as a granite structure with an opening 0.6m square, situated beneath the north rampart of the hill fort. He records its use until recent times by the inhabitants of Carn Brea Castle and suggests it may also have been used by prehistoric occupants of the hilltop.
