Full description
A small oval quarry recorded as 'old quarry', is shown here on the 1888 OS 1:2500 map, near the highest point of the Hugh. It is shown without rock faces but as an earthwork depression and may, therefore, have been either a rab pit or a stone quarry partially infilled (b1, b3). It was removed before 1907 as it does not appear on the OS 2nd edition; the c1901 Woolpack Battery (7908.06) having been built just 8.0m to its south (b2).
