Full description
Department of Environment, 1972, Tiverton, 16 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV52494.
Nos 12-32 (even), 32a, 34 and 36, Castle Street. Early to mid 19th century, two storey, some with attic. Red brick, some stuccoed and painted, mainly sash windows with centre glazing bars only. Nos 28, 30 and 32, doorcases with pilasters.

Public house (No. 20) and house, Circa 1850, one build. Roughcast mass wall construction; natural slate roof, gabled at ends; left end stack and axial stack with rendered shafts with platbands; cast-iron rainwater goods. Public house to left. Symmetrical plan, two rooms wide, two rooms deep with central entrance. House to right is double-depth, one room wide with a doorway to the right. Exterior: two storeys and basement. 3:1-window front. Deep boxed eaves on paired moulded brackets. Both pub and house have 20th century half-glazed doors and high-transomed ground-floor windows with glazing bars. First-floor windows are 16-pane hornless sashes, the pub has a blind recess in the centre with a keyblock. Interior: not inspected but may retain features of interest.
