More information : (NY 9012) Roman cylindrical milestone recorded in 1760 by Bishop Pococke and in 1776 by Hutchinson as standing at the turnpike house on Stainmore, 5 miles west of Bowes. Now lost. Reproduced from Pococke MS BM I Caro/Pio Fel(ici) E ?Inu(icto) Aug(usto) "For the Emperor....Carus Pius Felix Invictus Augustus". Pococke's description was CARY/PIO/CEIE/INVAVG(a). Hutchinson saw it as COH V (b) whilst Huebner conjectured CO(S) V (C) Carus AD 282-3. (1) No trace. No further information. (2)
