1046. Altar, 8-1/2 X 22 in. (1/8), with plain sides; found in 1886 in
a Roman well in building an extension to the Co-operative Stores,
south-west of the bridge which carries the main road to Newcastle,
and about 200 yds. north-west of Chester-le-Street fort. Now in the
