Roman memorial tombstone in the form of an hexagonal column found in 1806 near the London Coffee Hous, Ludgate Hill. It reads:
"D(is) M(anilius) Cl(audiae) Martinae, an(norum) XIX; Anancletus provinci(ialis) coniugi pientissimae; h(ic) s(ita) e(st).
("In memory of Claudia Martina, aged 19; set up by Anoncletus; slave of the provine, to his most devoted wife; she lies here"). (1) |
