Summary : Railway station, opened as Harrow Station on 20th July 1837, the London and Birmingham Railway's first stop after Euston. To the west of the tracks are the buildings of 1875 for the London and North Western Railway Company whilst facing the High Street is an asymmetrical composition of 1911 by Gerald Horsley. This structure is constructed from orange brick with stone dressings and has a lower booking hall with canted entrance. A clock tower rises behind. Underground train services arrived here in 1917 when the Bakerloo Line was extended from Willesden Junction. The station was renamed Harrow and Wealdstone on 1st May 1897. |
