Summary : Hill Gate, late C14th to early C19th.
More information : (SP33027914) Hill Gate (Site of) [NR].(1) Hill gate, (site). erected ca.1355, date of demolition unknown.(2) Depicted on a plan of 1849.(3) Hill Gate, or Hill Street Gate, was built in the C14th and rebuilt in 1423. It appears to have been a rectangular, two-storeyed gateway with embattled parapets. It was removed after 1662 and before 1849. (But see authy.3).(4) (Forms part of Coventry City walls, SP37NW48.) A sketch of the gate as it was in the mid-C19th agrees with authy. 4's description.(5)
