Summary : Three probable Second World War bomb craters, first visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in June 1942, have been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features appear as small closely spaced craters surrounded by areas of up cast earth, each about 10.2m in diameter. They are located on Hoo Common, about 278m south of a military camp (Monument 1546062) and 550m to the north of, and overlooking the Royal Navy ordnance depot at Upnor (Monument 1543146). |
