Summary : Bowyer Tower at the Tower of London occupies a position midway on the north face of the inner curtain wall. It dates from 1238-1277 and was re-faced in the mid 19th century. It is of a D-shaped plan with south turret on two storeys. An excavation in the floor of the tower revealed a small portion of the inner face of the Roman wall, including brick bonding courses. This has been preserved beneath the modern floor. |
