GV II

House. Early C19 with late C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Brick with hipped slate roof and end stacks. Three storeys with moulded eaves cornice. Three bays; windows have gauged flat heads and are 20-pane sashes on the ground and first floor and 16-pane sashes on the second floor; central entrance has an open pediment, fluted pilasters and entablature and a half-glazed door with panelled reveals and a traceried fanlight. Interior: room to front left has original ceiling mouldings with fan and husk detail; open well staircase with wreathed moulded handrail in central hall. A mid-C20 con- servatory adjoins the right side elevation. The house stands on a moated site; if replaces an older structure demolished in 1807, and was the seat of the Blount family. (VCH 4, p 285).
