GREAT OUSEBURN MAIN STREET SE 4461-4561 (south-west side) 9/24 Manor House Garage GV II House and shop. C17 or earlier; later C17 and C18 rear extensions; roof raised possibly in C18; C20 modernisation. Whitewashed rendered brick, on high flat plinth; pantile roof. Lobby-entry plan with added rear wing. 2-storey, 4-bay front. Original plank door with pegged-on frame at right of centre. C20 fenestration in altered openings throughout, except for possibly original circular window over door. Ground floor cornice. Coped gables and moulded front kneelers. End stacks, the left one external. Rear: staircase crossgable at left of extension wing. Wing has dentilled eaves. Interior. Ground floor: massive, double-hearthed stack survives. Moulded spine beam and joists in right end room. Splendid C17 closed string staircase with bulbous turned balusters rises through house to attic. 1st floor: studded partition wall. Attic: reset roof trusses of heavy, square-cut scantling with halved and pegged apex and collars.
