| Summary : A very small round barrow, visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The date of this barrow is uncertain. It lies within an extensive cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group, and may be Bronze Age in date. It is also associated with a possible Neolithic enclosure. Many similar small barrows, which may be Prehistoric or Roman, also appear in the immediate vicinity. |
| More information : SU 0261 1030. A very small round barrow, visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. It is defined by a single circular ditch 7.7m in diameter. The date of this barrow is uncertain. It lies within an extensive cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group (SU 01 SW 105), and may be Bronze Age in date. It is also adjacent to a possible Neolithic enclosure (SU 01 SW 207), and to the outer ditch of the Gerat Barrow (SU 01 SW 106). Many similar small barrows, which may be Prehistoric or Roman, also appear to the north (SU 01 SW 190). (1) |
