Description
Summary of Monument
A road bridge of 1776 spanning the River Tweed between England and Scotland, designed by John Smeaton. The bridge has been subject to a number of C20 alterations including strengthening the piers and rebuilding the parapet, renewing its internal structure, provision of reinforcing concrete relieving arches and the widening of the roadway.
