Summary : Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery at Wawne Road, Sutton. It was armed with four 4.5-inch guns with GL Mark II radar in 1942, and four 5.25-inch guns in 1944. It was manned by 172 Battery of the 62nd Royal Artillery Regiment in 1941. It was retained as an Off-Site Nucleus Force Battery in 1946.
