Summary : A Second World War road block is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1941. The road block is located on Harbour Road, Rye, where the road crosses the Rye Harbour Drain. The road block is defined by parallel rows of anti tank obstacles, probably concrete cubes, or cylinders, which are located on either side of the road; four rows are visible on the north side and three rows on the south side.
More information : A Second World War road block is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1941 and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The road block is centred at TQ 93378 19331 located on Harbour Road, Rye, where the road crosses the Rye Harbour Drain. The road block is defined by parallel rows of anti tank obstacles, probably concrete cubes, or cylinders, which are located on either side of the road; four rows are visible on the north side and three rows on the south side. The road block was removed sometime after the war. (1)
