Summary : When the 2.5 mile Hammersmith and City line opened on 13 June 1864 the only intermediate stations were Notting Hill (Ladbroke Grove) and Shepherd's Bush. From 1867 Notting Hill was also served by the Metropolitan Railway. In 1880 the station was renamed Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove and in 1919 it was further renamed as Ladbroke Grove (North Kensington). In 1938 the pre-fix was dropped when the station became Ladbroke Grove.
