HER 16275 DESCRIPTION:- Sheet XXVIII NW. At edge of Aylworth Farm. Not yet visited. 2019 - This monument was previously recorded within the Historic England National Record of the Historic Environment. That record, formerly held within the AMIE database, is quoted below: “An early 20th century sheep washing pool is marked on the revised 2nd edition map at Aylworth farm. The rectangular pool is centred at SP 1095 2201 and is accompanied by small rectangular walled enclosure or fold conjoined to its north. The pool would have been used to wash the sheep so as to achieve a higher price for the fleece at market. (1)” {Source Work 4249.} |
