Summary : Scheduled section of waterchannel traditionally thought to be a Roman canal but proved to be part of late 1st or 2nd century fen drainage system. Surviving earthwork surveyed at 25" scale.
More information : TF 0230 7078 - TF 0247 7071. Permanent pasture; slopes much
mutilated, maximum height 1m. Indications of two later causeways.
TF 0250 7070 - TF 0266 7068. Pasture; maximum depth of ditch, 1.2m.

The counterscarp of Car Dyke was visible as a cropmark and mapped
from good quality air photographs. The interrupted sections of the
bank are visible from TF 0217 7082 to TF 0435 7055.
