Summary : Roman well, extant and surrounded by a fence; possibly the water supply for the bath house.
More information : (Previously recorded by the Ordnance Survey as NY 76 NE 14.5)

NY 7915 6894 Roman well discovered in 1844 and excavated in 1898 revealing a powerful spring encased in Roman masonry. Part of a line of stone channelling was said to have been found by a workman to the S halfway between the well and the bath house. If so, it suggests that the main use of the spring was to supply the bath house. (1)

NY 7915 6894. Extant and surrounded by a fence. Surveyed at 1:1000 as a part of the RCHME Housesteads Survey. (2)
