Church of St Brandon

Summary : Twelfth century church, with 13th and 14th century additions, situated in the grounds of Brancepeth Castle. Rebuilding and additional building took place from the 15th to the 19th century. The chancel roof was replaced by Robert Barker in 1638. The chapel is built of dressed sandstone and the rest of the building is constructed of rubble stone with lead roofs. The church was extensively damaged by a fire of 16 Sept 1998 and much of the internal decoration destroyed.

St Brandon's Church, situated in the grounds of Brancepeth Castle.
The lower portion of the tower is late 12th century, the upper
portion and most of the rest of the church are 13th and 14th century.
Rebuilding and additional building took place from the 15th to the
