Summary : Site of a Roman corridor type villa with three bath houses and a possible centurial stone. The site was excavated by Heywood Sumner between 1914 and 1924. Many finds from the excavations are in Salisbury Museum.

A corridor type villa with three bath houses and possible centurial
stone, south of Lower Highwood Copse (shown as extant foundations on
3) excavated by Heywood Sumner between 1914 and 1924.

Objects found now in Salisbury Museum include a silver spoon, bronze
ornaments, iron stylus and fragments of glass vessels. Pottery
includes Samian and imitation Samian, New Forest ware (3rd and 4th C)
red rosette stamped ware (late 4th C) and coarse pottery. The 59
coins found range from Gallienus to Valentinian I, only seven being
4th C. (2-3)

Though the area in which the villa stood is at present ploughed there
is nothing apart from an odd fragment of pottery to indicate the
site. (4)
