Summary : Legge Mount at the Tower of London was built between 1275 and 1285 in the north-western corner of the outer ward. It is a semi-circular 2-storey bastion. It was heightened in 1682-3 when gun ports were added. It also had early C19 sash windows added. The interior is noted as having early C16 brick walling and a vault to the basement. The bastion house one of the assay buildings during the Tudor period and later housed 2 companies of guards. In 1696 the lodgings were handed over to the Mint for use in the recoinage operation.
