Summary : Fort Number 19 of London's Civil War defences, known as Vauxhall Fort. This fort can be precisely located since it is depicted on Desmaretz's map of 1717, and part of it is shown on Rocque's map. It was a rectangular earthwork with demi-bastions on the angles.The remains of the fort were close to Vauxhall Gardens, and the Elephant and Castle public house now stands on its site.
