Summary : A possible medieval or post medieval building with associated platform, fishponds and water channels, are visible as earthworks on air photographs. The building is visible as a low rectilinear banked enclosure, sat on a platform. The alignment of this building is approximately parallel to post medieval field boundaries. A number of fishponds are visible to the south with interconnecting water channels. Medieval ridge and furrow appears to respect the larger pond, but has been cut by a later water channel, which may have been acting as drainage. A possible smaller fishpond sits immediately east of the platform. The features lie immediately east of a Manor House labelled on the 1855 edition Ordnance Survey map. None of the features appear to be extant on the latest 2008 vertical photography. |
